A VISION FOR GROWTH, DISCIPLESHIP & A PERMANENT HOME
Where Are We Going?
In June 2020, after many months of prayer and disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Foundations Church was able to relocate to the southeastern part of Williamsburg, close to the I-64/Penniman Rd. corridor. This is the heart of an under-served community with only a handful of vibrant gospel-centered churches — a community to which we have been called since we first began meeting publicly in September 2018.
As of July 2022, our current temporary home is Magruder Elementary School, which has graciously opened its doors to us for Sunday services and Wednesday-night groups. Our church office spaces remain at 161-C John Jefferson Rd.
In the summer of 2025, however, we will be moving to the former J.C. Penney Building at 500 Marquis Parkway — a building that would allow us to serve far greater numbers of children, youth and adults, not just on Sundays but throughout the week. We have secured a portion of the building for our use to give our growing church family a sense of stability and permanence as we boldly proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ among the 96% of Greater Williamsburg that have no regular church home.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why Marquis Parkway?
Over 32,000 people live and work within a five-mile radius of Marquis Pkwy., while hundreds of new housing units are currently under construction nearby. It is less than 15 minutes from the gates of Fort Eustis, putting Foundations Church within easy reach of an additional 30,000 active duty servicemen and women and their families. The Apostle Paul speaks of his ambition to preach the gospel in places where Christ is not yet known, lest he "build on another man's foundation" (Romans 15:20). The heart of Foundations Church is to do the same: to know Jesus Christ and make Him known among those who don't yet know Him in order to make disciples, raise leaders and plant churches.
What Do We Need?
In November 2024, five years after the initial launch of our campaign to secure a permanent location, we were able to secure a lease that will give us long-term use of about 40% of the former J.C. Penney building in York County's Marquis shopping center. Due to the remarkable generosity of those who have already given to our building campaign, and our longstanding efforts to secure zoning and community support, we have what we need to begin. In the coming weeks we will be securing the necessary architectural plans and permits with a view to beginning the process of renovating the space for our church congregation in the Spring. We praise God for that!
In the coming months, however, we will need to raise significant additional funds to ensure we can secure the space on time and debt free. Please be seeking the Lord in prayer about the part He would have you play in this process! We will be holding a series of information and update meetings in the coming months. Stay tuned to our services and regular communication channels to learn more.

What About Debt?
Since we launched publicly in September 2018, the Lord has blessed Foundations Church. He has enabled us to meet all of our obligations, pay back our start-up funds and put money aside in savings. What's more, we've raised well over $1m towards this project. This has enabled us rezone the property for church use, and make significant investments in planning as we have sought to overcome the significant hurdles that have stood between us and the vision of a permanent home. We remain committed paying for the necessary plans, approvals and renovations as we go and fully believe that the Lord will provide everything we need to occupy the space without relying on debt. This will help us protect our investment and enable us to continue our work of proclaiming the gospel debt-free.
