Purim is a wonderful Jewish holiday that commemorates the day Esther, Queen of Persia, saved the Jewish people from execution by Haman, the advisor to the Persian king. Esther fasted and prayed then came boldly before her husband, the King. She exposed her previously hidden Jewish heritage and asked him to save her people, which he did.
