Where Are We Going?

In June 2020, after many months of prayer and disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Foundations Church was able to relocate to the south-eastern part of Williamsburg close to the I-64/Penniman Rd corridor. It's in the heart of an under-served community that has only a handful of vibrant gospel-centered churches - a community to which we have been called since we first began meeting publicly in September 2018.

Our current temporary home is DoubleTree Hotel and Conference Center which has graciously opened its doors to us throughout the Winter of 2020, just across the street from our new office spaces at 161-C John Jefferson Rd.

Our vision for this year, however, has been to secure access to the former J.C. Penny Building at 500 Marquis Parkway - a building that would allow us to serve far greater numbers of children, youth and adults - not just on Sundays - but throughout the week. Initial discussions concerning various potential leasing and purchasing options have been ongoing throughout the Spring with the goal of giving our growing church family a sense of stability and permanence as we boldly proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ among the 96% of Greater Williamsburg that have no regular church home.

What's The Update?

We are delighted to announce that in July 2020, Foundations Church secured a contract to purchase 500 Marquis Parkway as our new permanent church home. This agreement is contingent upon our the successful re-zoning of the property for church use  - a process that is expected to last into the Spring of 2021 - and successfully raising the necessary funds for the purchase and renovation. More details to follow shortly.

"For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." 1 Cor. 3:11

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Marquis Parkway?

Over 32,000 people live and work within a five-mile radius of Marquis Pkwy while hundreds of new housing units are currently under construction nearby. It is close by our current temporary meeting location at the DoubleTree Hotel, and less than 15 minutes from the gates of Fort Eustis - putting Foundations Church within easy reach of an additional 30,000 active duty servicemen & women and their families. The Apostle Paul speaks of his ambition to preach the gospel in places where Christ is not yet known, lest he "build on another man's foundation" (Romans 15:20). The heart of Foundations Church is to do the same: to know Jesus Christ and make Him known among those who don't yet know Him in order to make disciples, raise leaders and plant churches.

What do we need?

Due to the remarkable generosity of those who have already given to our Beyond 2020 campaign we have the necessary funds to begin securing the required architectural plans, zoning and land-use approvals to utilize the space safely for a church congregation. We praise God for that.

In the early winter of 2020 we will be launching a major capital campaign in order to raise the significant additional funds required to purchase and renovate the building. Please begin seeking the Lord in prayer about the part He would have you play in that process when the time comes.

What about debt?

Since we launched publicly in September 2018, the Lord has blessed Foundations Church.  He has enabled us to meet all of our obligations, pay back our start-up funds and put money aside in savings. What's more, we've already made a great start towards our immediate fundraising goals for the move to Marquis Parkway. Wherever possible we remain committed to using cash for the necessary plans, approvals and renovations that lie ahead and fully believe that the Lord will provide everything we need to occupy the space. To secure the stability of our future growth, however, we are seeking to raise sufficient additional funds to have this project paid off by 2023. This will help us protect our investment and enable us to continue our work of proclaiming the gospel debt-free.
